Geothermal Energy | North Brawley Geothermal Power Plant
Since December 2006, Ormat Technologies, Inc have owned the North Brawley Known Geothermal Resource Area (KGRA) in California. A geothermal development project has since been underway and is expected to be completed by the end of 2008. The geothermal power plant will have a starting capacity of 50MW and will then be increased in 50MW clusters thereafter. The total output of power to be supplied from the Brawley project is expected to be 190MW.
Not a great deal of information has been forthcoming about the project although the power that is expected to be produced once the power plant is operational has already been bought by Southern California Edison in a 20 year deal.
