Wind Power | Shandong Wind Farm
A joint venture partnership is being headed up for a major wind farm to be built on the coast of China’s Shandong province. The wind power project will build a 150MW wind farm and will be the first commercial project for REpower North and is one of the largest projects in the history of the REpower Systems Group.
The wind farm will consist of 75 x 2MW wind turbines and construction will take place from June 2008 to April 2009. The turbines themselves are the renowned MM82 turbines which are certified for the highest wind speeds making them perfect for installing in the extreme wind conditions of South China.
The project has the potential to produce an even greater electrical capacity with the customer, a consortium of companies comprising Guohua Energy Investment and Roaring 40s Renewable Energy holding an option for the delivery of a further 75 wind turbines in 2009/10.
