Solar Energy | Abertura FV Solar Photovoltaic Plant
Spanish engineering company Iberdrola Ingeniería y Construcción (IBERINCO) has won the contract for the construction of the second phase of the Abertura FV solar photovoltaic plant in the Spanish province of Cáceres. The company had already secured the contract to construct phase 1 of Abertura FV which comprises the first 10MW and this second contract means that the company will be constructing the entire 20MW capacity site. The promoter of the project is Aliwin Plus SL.
While the first phase is spread over 100 hectares of land, the second phase will be a little more compact with plans revealing that the 100 new panels, producing 114.7 peak kilowatts (kWp) each, will be sited on an area of 80 hectares.
The Abertura FV Solar Park is located in the Spanish province of Cáceres and could be in operation as soon as September 2008. The location in which the plant will be situated is considered ideal because it gets almost 2,000 hours of sun a year and the available land is very flat which is ideally suitable to installing photovoltaic solar panels.
