The Cedar Ridge Wind Farm in Fond du Lac County Wisconsin has just begun generating power for the Wisconsin Power & Light Co.

This wind farm consists of 41 wind turbines with a maximum capacity of generating 68MW of electricity. The renewable energy sourced electricity be enough to send power to 17,000 homes in the area. This is a project that has been over 12 months in the construction.

“This is an important day for Alliant Energy and our customers as we continue to strive to meet the increasing demand for green energy,” said Bill Harvey, Alliant president and CEO.

Wisconsin Power & Light is a subsidiary of Alliant Energy Corp which is planning to add another 400MW to the Wisconsin, Iowa and Minnesota area by the end of 2010.
