Wind Power | EcoDane Wind
The first wind farm in Dane County, Wisconsin has has been proposed and is still awaiting approval for construction which will be financed by EcoEnergy LLC. The power capacity of the wind farm will be 10MW and will consist of 6 wind turbines. The proposal has the wind farm located in the town of Springfield which is in northwest Dane County.
The EcoDane project will have the capacity to produce roughly 22 million kilowatt-hours of electricity per year and will be able to power more than 2,500 houses in the area.
The electricty will be transmitted on existing Madison Gas & Electric (MG&E) powerlines and the project will be a good fit for MG&E’s Power Tomorrow commitment to become more energy efficient using local renewable energy.
The EcoDane project will also help Wisconsin move toward fulfilling the mandate that 10% of the state’s electricity be generated from non-polluting, renewable sources of power by 2015.
