Wind Power | Goshen South Wind Farm
A new Idaho wind farm has moved a step towards construction in 2009 in Bingham County with developers Ridgeline Energy LLC pleased with the progress. Approval for the 450MW Goshen South Wind Farm has been granted by the Bingham County Planning and Zoning Commission.
However this means that the application will sit before the Bingham County commissioners for further approval after local landowners appealed the the decision.
The wind project will consist of 150 wind turbines and will be situated on 200 acres of the designated 20,000 acres of project land.
Should all hurdles be met from here on out, the estimated completion of the construction phase of the project is expected to be 2010.
Rich Rayhill, Ridgeline Energy’s vice president, said: “The Goshen South project will more than double Idaho’s wind energy production. It will help to diversify the region’s energy supply and continues southeastern Idaho’s tradition of clean energy generation. A 450MW wind farm will avoid the emission of more than two billion pounds of CO2 each year when compared with coal-fired electricity.”
