LaSalle County, Illinois is the location for a new 99MW wind farm which will be known as the Grand Ridge Wind Farm. The power capacity will come from 66 GE 1.5MW wind turbines. The project is to cover almost 6,000-acres in Brookfield, Allen and Grand Rapids townships
The wind turbine unit blades at the Grand Ridge Wind Farm will reach a height of 389 feet and will be capable of supplying renewable energy electricity to around 28,000 households per year.
The new wind farm will also be avoiding considerable levels of greenhouse gases, in fact it has been estimated that the Grand Ridge Wind Farm will avoid approximately 210,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions annually.
