The 223.6MW Klondike III Wind Farm was commissioned in March 2008 by Spanish renewable energy giant Iberdrola Renewables through their company PPM Energy making the wind farm the largest installed by the company anywhere in the world. The wind farm is located in Sherman County, Oregon adjacent to the existing Klondike I and Klondike II wind farms.

The newly commissioned wind farm is comprised of 80 1.5MW General Electric wind turbines, 44 2.3MW Siemens turbines and a single Mitsubishi 2.4MW turbine. The wind farm is expected to produce enough electricity to power 110,000 homes per year while avoiding something like 350,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions.

Construction of the Klondike III wind farm has not been without incident with a maintenance worker killed when the mast of a wind turbine snapped while he was at the top. A second man who was working inside the hollow tube at the time was also injured. It was the first time that a death caused by a turbine collapse was recorded in Oregon. The turbine that collapsed was one of the Siemens turbines and the company was fined for safety violations over the incident.

Power purchase agreements were finalised well before construction on the project was completed with Pacific Gas & Electric Company entering into a 15 year agreement for 85MW, Puget Sound Energy signing a 20 year agreement for 50MW from the project and Eugene Water & Electric Board taking a long-term contract for 25MW.
