Wind Power | Lamèque Wind Farm
Acciona Energia SA have won the contract to develop the Lamèque Wind Farm. The wind farm will be located on Lamèque Island in the Gulf of St Lawrence in New Brunswick, Canada and it is hoped that it will be made operational by November 2009.
With a planned power capacity of 49.5MW which will be comprised of 33 x 1.5MW Acciona wind turbines, the project will generate around 154 gigawatt hours of electricity per year which will be enough to power around 9,000 homes.
A 25 year power purchase agreement is still in the process of being finalised between NB Power and Acciona Wind Energy, Canada who will construct, own and operate the wind farm. Cost of construction is budgeted at EUR69 million.
