CLP Group through its subsidiary CLP India is currently constructing the Samana Wind Project, a wind project that will have the capacity to produce 100.8MW of renewable energy sourced electricty.

The project is going to be completed in two phases with the first half due to be completed in June 2008 and the second half due for completion at the start of 2009. CLP has entered into an agreement with wind turbine manufacturer Enercon Limited, with the entire project to comprise 126 wind turbines, each with a capacity of generating 800kW.

The Samana Wind Project is located in India’s north-western state of Gujarat and is the second of what is anticipated to be a growing portfolio of wind energy projects for CLP India. To encourage investment in wind energy developments in Gujarat the government has introduced a raft of incentives including a higher wind energy tariff.
